Women's Guild Notes

Guild Board members Phyllis Pettengill, Treas., Sonja White, Corres. Sec., Joyce Borden, White Circle Captain, Nancy DeWolf, Historian, and Linda Paradise, Rummage Sale Co-Chair., met on May 7th to review the Rummage Sale held on April 5. Phyllis reported the total sales of $3,503.19. Linda felt the success was due to an increase in baked goods, luncheon, flower arrangements as well as a good selection of household items. She pointed out that there were very few infant items. We will specifically advertise for these items for the next sale. Discussion was held regarding having two rummage sales, spring and fall. Sonja will check the church calendar for October. She will also check with New Bedford Vocational School about making new signs.

The Board spoke of the great help we received from those helping to set up and the Youth Fellowship who did all the packing up of the remaining items that were picked up by a New Bedford non-profit group. We also brought boxes of clothing to a local nursing home. This was true TEAMWORK! It was voted to give Al DeMello a special monetary thank you for his tireless work on the sale.

It was also voted to give $1,000 to the Church Scholarship Fund.

Linda will check with the Children's Circle Nursery School for a "Wish List" for their playground. The Guild is looking forward to helping them with some items they need.

We are still in need of a President and First Vice President. With the arrival of the new minister and his family, we are hopeful that someone will come forward to revitalize this important group in our church.
