Music Program
The music program of the church revolves around Sunday morning worship. The Parish Choir usually sings a cappella anthems and responses — often composed by the Director of Music — which support the lessons and message. (The Choir provides day care for singer’ children on rehearsal night.) The unique power of choral music to enrich the presence of the Holy Spirit in worship guides both repertoire and methodology.
Classical organ repertoire, played on the church’s new Organ by the Director of Music, serves the same objectives.
Frequently, worship is enhanced by solos and accompaniments played on a professionally restored 1914 Steinway Piano, a gift to the congregation, which raised the funds for its restoration.
Children's Choirs, part of the Sunday School Curriculum, contribute to worship approximately once a month.
The music program also includes an ad hoc Recital Series of first-rate classical performers, which have included The Banchieri Singers from Hungary, the Early Music ensemble REBEL from NY, solo pianists (performing on the church’s Steinway), chamber music groups, and singers who enjoy excellent acoustics and intimate surroundings in the church’s 1817 sanctuary.
